  • International Mahjong Rules ("IMJ Rules") was created in 1990 based on the game play of the world's most popular "Cantonese Mahjong" (also known as "Hong Kong Mahjong" or "Hong Kong Old Style"), and on various "house rules" widely played throughout Hong Kong in the 1980s. It was a complete set of written rules of the then Cantonese Mahjong but with modifications and verifications that are purposely made to eliminate any known gray areas of play.

These ladies traveled from Denver, Colorado to Katy, Texas to get their Mah Jong sets from WHERE THE WINDS BLOW! They made a field trip out of getting new sets and gifts and spent two hours mixing and matching and coming up with special, customized sets that they will enjoy for many years. Just make an appointment and ya'll come now! Pictured: Anna S., Carol Z., Debby R. & Glenda C.

Our group did a Mahj demonstration at a twenties Gatsby party thrown by the Green Lawn Abbey Preservation Association. Our inspiration was from the black and white photo shown. Gatsby picture left to right: Judy S., Alice S., Jody A., Linda A., and Shelby R.

Mah Jong, Mah Jongg & More Mah-Jong Mah Jongg Tournaments Mah Jongg Teachers "Mah Jongg Lady" - The photo shown of "Mah Jongg Lady" was a whimsical three dimensional figure (styled like a Mah Jongg tile) that I created out of a painted brick for a local Cancer charity auction in Connecticut. (We had to create "art" out of a brick".) By the way, never will I attempt epoxy glue again.

Mah Jongg Lady evolved in my mind quite easily as I grew up surrounded my Mah Jong ladies, including my mother and all of our neighbors in Brooklyn and than in Fresh Meadows, New York.

Visitors look at a mosaic of a human face formed with mah-jong tiles in a museum in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, Feb. 1, 2008. The museum, which will be open to the public in March 2008, is the first museum in China that combines the country's mah-jong and tea culture together.

Left to Right: Bev; Connie; Hostess - Ginny; Noreen; and Sigi. Marty is behind the camera. We are affiliated with the (University of Central Florida) UCF Women's Club. There are barely 10 members. We are thrilled when we get 8 but on this evening only 6 came. Since all wanted to chat while we played we set up at either end of a large dining room table and played our very casual form of MahJongg. All the money we losers pay out for lost games, goes to the UCF Women's club endowed Scholarship for non traditional students. Our collection usually amounts to about $150 at the end of the school year. We have a lot of fun.
